Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What are my venting options with the Ceraflame?

A. The Ceraflame can be vented as a category I appliance into a common vent. It can also be vented into a dedicated vent as a category III appliance, horizontally through awall or vertically through the roof. The Ceraflame is also suitable for outdoor installation.

Q. What venting materials can I use with the Ceraflame?

A. When vented as a category I, you may use 'B' vent or 'C' vent with the Ceraflame. If venting into a stack taller than 30 ft., a barometric damper is recommended.

When vented through the wall, the Ceraflame must employ a corrosion resistant vent material. A 300 series stainless steel single wall vent is usually adequate. All seams must be sealed. After inspection and approval by the local authority, it is advisable to insulate the vent to minimize chances of condensation if the vent runs through a cold space. The local inspector will have the final say in these matters.

Q. How far can I vent the Ceraflame?

A. The Ceraflame can be vented up to 60 feet on the discharge and up to 60 feet on the air intake.

A long radius 90 degree elbow is equivalent to 6 feet of straight vent pipe.
A tight radius 90 degree elbow is equivalent to 12 feet of straight vent pipe.

Q. Where do I find the proper flue discharge and air intake hoods for the Ceraflame?

A. Vent terminals for the Ceraflame are available from Camus.

Q. What is the proper sized pump for the Ceraflame?

A. For heating applications or for normal domestic water, choose a pump which results in a temperature rise of 35° F or less. Always pump to the boiler.

For domestic water applications other than normal hardness, contact the factory for recommendations.

Q. What is the required power supply for the Ceraflame?

A. The Ceraflame requires a 115V, 15 amp. Circuit.

Q. What are my venting options with the Dynaflame?

A. The Dynaflame can be vented as a category I appliance into a common vent. It can also be vented into a dedicated vent as a category III appliance, horizontally through awall or vertically through the roof. The Dynaflame is also suitable for outdoor installation.

In condensing mode, the Dynaflame can be vented as a category II or category IV

Q. What venting materials can I use with the Dynaflame?

A. When vented as a category I, you may use 'B' vent or 'C' vent with the Dynaflame. If venting into a stack taller than 30 ft., a barometric damper is recommended.

When vented through the wall, the Dynaflame must employ a corrosion resistant vent material. A 300 series stainless steel single wall vent is usually adequate. All seams must be sealed. After inspection and approval by the local authority, it is advisable to insulate the vent to minimize chances of condensation if the vent runs through a cold space. The local inspector will have the final say in these matters.

When vented as a category II or IV appliance, the Dynaflame requires a special venting system constructed of AL29-4C. Some jurisdictions will allow 316 stainless. Always check with your local inspector. If using 316 stainless, it is better to avoid welding.

Provisions for condensate disposal and treatment will be necessary. Camus can provide a condensate neutralising cartidge.

Q. How far can I vent the Dynaflame?

A. The Dynaflame can be vented up to 100 feet on the discharge and up to 60 feet on the air intake.

A long radius 90 degree elbow, 8" diameter is equivalent to 8 feet of straight vent pipe.
A tight radius 90 degree elbow, 8" diameter is equivalent to 15 feet of straight vent pipe.
A long radius 90 degree elbow, 12" diameter is equivalent to 14 feet of straight vent pipe.
A tight radius 90 degree elbow, 12" diameter is equivalent to 25 feet of straight vent pipe.

Q. Where do I find the proper flue discharge and air intake hoods for the Dynaflame?

A. Vent terminals for the Dynaflame are available from Camus.

Q. What is the proper sized pump for the Dynaflame?

A. For heating applications or for normal domestic water, choose a pump which results in a temperature rise of 35° F or less. Always pump to the boiler.

For domestic water applications other than normal hardness, contact the factory for recommendations.

Q. What is the required power supply for the Dynaflame?

A. The Dynaflame requires a 115V, 60 hz. Circuit.

Amp draws at full input are as follows;

Models                    AMP draw

500 thru 1100                  7

1500 thru 2000               11

2500 thru 3000               14

Amp draws decrease as burner modulates down.

Q. What is the modulating range for the Dynaflame?

A. The Dynaflame is fully modulating from 35% up to 100% of input.

Q. What is the efficiency of the Dynaflame?

A. The main exchanger of the Dynaflame must always see inlet water temperatures of 110° F or higher. The main exchanger never condenses and provides an efficiency of 85%.

To allow for condensation without affecting the primary heat exchanger, the Dynaflame has a secondary heat exchanger option which is installed within the main cabinet.

With the secondary heat exchanger option, the Dynaflame can provide efficiencies of up to 95% across the full range of inputs from 35% up to 100%. The colder the water to the secondary, the higher the efficiency.

Q. Can I have a Dynaflame as a heating boiler condensing?

A. As long as the secondary exchanger is supplied with cold water, the Dynaflame will provide condensing efficiency levels.

For example, a heating boiler maintaining a 160° F return temperature could preheat domestic water entering the secondary heat exchanger at 40° F and in so doing provide condensing efficiency levels.

Q. DynaMax boiler lights off and starts with a rumble or flame disappears after 10 seconds of run

A. This could be a result of insufficient incoming gas pressure which is less than 3" w.c. or greater than 14" w.c. static. If this is the case, check the gas regulator that is supplying gas to the appliance to verify that it is correctly sized to the unit and is operating correctly.

Check the incoming gas pipe sizing to the appliance and compare it to the Recommended Gas Pipe Size in Part 3 of the DynaMax I&O Manual.

If the vent and/or air intake equivalent length exceeds 70 equivalent feet, this causes in increased back pressure on the system, and it would be advised to reduce the ignition RPM from 3000 RPM to 2600-2700 RPM for a smooth and reliable lightoff.

Q. What is the standard vent connection for a DynaMax?

A. TDynaMax units are supplied with specially designed vent adapters to adapt to plastic vent pipe when ordered with PVC/CPVC vent selection. Diameter of vent connection provided is based on 100 equivalent feet of venting stated in the DynaMax I&O. Stainless steel venting options are available.

Q. What is the maximum amount of piping that can be supported by the onboard pump?

A. The standard pump supplied with the unit is designed for up to 50 equivalent feet of piping without increasing the pipe diameter provided at the unit.

Q. Can a glycol-water mixture be used in the DynaMax?

A. Yes, but the standard pump needs to be upgraded to compensate for the denser medium. DO NOT exceed a mixture of 50/50 and when using a glycol-water mixture. Contact Camus for additional information regarding such a system.

Q. What is the modulating range of a DynaMax?

A. The DynaMax is fully modulating from 20% to 100%.

Q. What is the maximum length of venting that can be used on the DynaMax?

A. Up to 100 equivalent feet on venting.
